Antweight Examples

Hacked RC Toy, Antweight or Beetle Robot (1lb or 3lb)
If you want to start off cheap you can hack a RC toy.  If done right, it can be fairly competitive.  I forget it's final record but it was something like 6 and 4.  There are a lot of downsides to use toy electronics, mainly radio frequency conflicts.
Cost

Item

$25.00 Base Toy
$5.00 Magnet (high powered)
$20.00 Batteries
$10.00 Chassis + Materials
*$60.00 Grand Total

* It is easy to spend even less than this but without enhancements, the robot may not be very competitive.

Pocket Monkey
Pocket Monkey was a fairly competitive hacked toy robot.
Pocket monkey had a titanium wedge and a large high powered magnet underneath to increase traction.

This early version of Ripple from Team Gausswave is a good example of a basic 1lb robot with a servo driven weapon.

Advanced Antweight or Beetle Robot (1lb or 3lb)
You get what you pay for.  Motor, electronic, and servo clamp upgrades dramatically increase robot performance.  Titanium armor also ups the costs but it helps make sure your bot keeps on ticking.
